Portfolio Simplification Overview: Core VMware Bundles

VMware has streamlined its offerings from 168 products, bundles, and editions to four core bundles, providing clarity and simplicity to customers. The four primary bundles are:

  1. VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
  2. vSphere Foundation (VVF)
  3. vSphere Standard (VVS)
  4. vSphere Essentials Plus (VVEP)

Additional add-ons are available for both VCF and VVF, as detailed below.

VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)

VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) is an all-encompassing software-defined infrastructure solution, delivering a comprehensive cloud operating model for on-premises environments. It integrates compute, storage, networking, and cloud management into a unified platform.

Licensing and Key Details:

  • Subscription-based model: Disconnected, with future potential for connectivity.
  • Core-based pricing: Minimum of 16 cores per CPU (e.g., 4 CPUs with 4 cores = 64 cores).
  • Flexible terms: Available in 1-, 3-, and 5-year options. Updates in May 2024 will allow annual billing and co-term flexibility.
  • vSAN Allocation: 1 TiB per core.
  • Support: Premium global assistance with advanced SLAs, senior engineers, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

vSphere Foundation (VVF)

vSphere Foundation (VVF) is a streamlined version of VMware’s enterprise virtualization platform, designed to optimize data center performance for a range of organizational needs. It supports predictive and proactive management for enhanced performance, availability, and efficiency.
